Tikal Mask
Replica of the Tikal mask SMALL of 15.3X12 or 6X4 3/4 inches; MEDIUM size of 19.5X15cm or 7 3/4X6 inches and LARGE size of 26.7X20.3 cm or 10.5X8 inches.
This mask is a reproduction of the funeral mask of Tikal made out of guatemalan Jade. The original was discovered in Tomb No. 160 in Tikal, Guatemala, in 1963. It dates back to the year 527 A.D.. It was found broken into serveral pieces and restored by an international group of archaelogists. It was made out of jasper, serpentine, obsidian, shell and Jade. The original mask is now exhibited in the museum of Antropology and Etnology in Guatemala city. Articles about this masterpiece of Mayan art were published in several academic magazines as well as in the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC.
