Naranjo Mask

Replica of the Naranjo mask SMALL size 9X11.5 cm or 3 3/4X4 1/2 inches; MEDIUM size of 10.5X14cm or 4 1/2 X 5 1/2 inches and LARGE of 14.6X17 cm or 5 3/4X6 3/4 inches.

This is the reproduction of the  mask that was made out of jade and was found in Naranjo Peten, Guatemala, which was an ancient mayan town. It dates to the late classic period.

The original was a funeral mask for a highstanding Maya and was stolen out of the grave.

The mayans valued jade above all else in the world and thought it has mystical powers which would help them to reincarnate.
